Introduction

As part of a recent strategic development process Greenhill revisited its mission statement to describe our current purpose as:

“Greenhill YMCA provides high quality local, national and international programmes in outdoor/environmental education, personal development and community relations in a safe and caring atmosphere, based around a Christian ethos”

Strategic Goals

Between 2003 and 2006 Greenhill YMCA will:

  • Continuously develop, deliver and market a diverse range of dynamic, challenging and enjoyable programmes in response to identified needs

  • Increase interaction with and support to local communities in the surrounding district

  • Develop and deliver community relations programmes and practice to meet the needs of the centre, centre users, and local communities

  • Develop and provide a safe environment for people to explore and develop faith

  • Develop and implement an effective human resources strategy

  • Develop and implement an effective business plan with sustainable financial and site development strategies that meet the needs of programmes and customers

Methodology

Greenhill YMCA is currently working towards becoming an autonomous association in 2004.This process is bringing the Centre closer to the local community whilst still allowing it to provide support to groups throughout the island. There will be greater integration of, outdoor activities, youthwork, CR, and Christian ethos

Resources

The human resources strategy is key to the above to implementing the above aims. It is anticipated Greenhill will recruit (either employ or long-term volunteers) a, Pastor/Mentor, Volunteer Support Worker and Community Relations Development Worker. Major site development is also anticipated.

Ongoing costs will be funded by YCNI and income from user groups. Project and capital sources will include, IFI Community Bridges, DENI, Mourne Heritage Trust, InvestNI Tourism and various trusts.
